Famous for being the first discovered exoplanet residing in the habitable zone with a radius similar to Earth’s, Kepler 186f made headlines when it was publicly announced on the 17th of April in 2014. It was discovered by the Kepler Observatory using the transit method. Being about 11% larger in radius than Earth, 186f is considered to be a rocky terrestrial planet or a lower density ocean planet with a thick atmosphere. The temperature is around 188 K making it colder than Mars. It takes 129 days to orbit around its star.
